Mangaluru: VHP demands NIA permanent office, army camp in city

Mangaluru, Aug 6: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Mangaluru division secretary, Sharan Pumpwell, demanded for the setting up of national investigation agency's (NIA) permanent office and army camp in the city. He was addressing a press conference held on Thursday August 5 at Thokottu.

He expressed the suspicion that like the arrested accused, Ammar Abdul, several such youngsters would have developed links with ISIS and demanded detailed investigation about the accused.

Pumpwell urged to probe the links the people have with Ammar and what connection he has with these people. He pointed out that in the recent yeas in many cases in different parts of the country, the district link has always surfaced. He said that terrorists, Bhatkal brothers also had their links in the city. He recollected that a bomb manufacturer was arrested from Mukkacheri in that probe. "As we cannot deny the conspiracy to carry out destructive activities here, we demand for the installation of NIA office and army camp," he demanded.

Sharan accused some Congress leaders of having soft corner towards certain people as a result of which thee things are happening. He asserted that Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal are always ready to fight against anti-national, anti-social activities and terrorism. He urged city police commissioner N Shashi Kumar, to conduct detailed investigation about the daughter-in-law of the said family who had converted from Hinduism to Islam.

VHP district president Gopal Kuthar, district joint secretary Ravi Asaigoly, Bajrang Dal district convener Puneet Attavar and others were present.
