Tokyo Olympics: India's Bajrang Punia wins bronze in 65kg freestyle wrestling

Tokyo, Aug 7 (IANS): India's Bajrang Punia won the bronze medal in men's freestyle 65kg, beating Niyazbekov of Kazakhstan 8-0 on points for his first medal at the Olympics.

Bajrang, who had lost to Haji Aliyev of Azerbaijan in the semifinals on Friday, came up with a tactical bout as he took early lead in the first period and capitalised with counterattacks when his Kazakh rival, a two-time medallist at the World Championships, went on the attack.

Bajrang's bronze medal took India's tally in the Tokyo Olympics to six medals -- two silver and four bronze. India thus tied for its best medal haul in the Olympics at 2012 London when they won two silver and four bronze.

Deshbhakt mangalore,Take it not everything negetive.we should see things with another eye too.Atleast we won some medals ,where other nations were empty handed.Well one thing is true, our Nation doesnt take much interest to sportlers to come up.Many hurdles they have to go through. Many dont have means to practice or go other countries on their own. Many firms also dont sponser them .Thinking Indians ?No way.Hard trained ones now brought something .Let us enjoy and wish them good luck ,for the next one. Some countries make sportlers (I dont want to name)by bend and bore like methods to practice to bring gold medals ,make children cry ,beet them to practice, and we dont want such gold medals on the sweat and blood soaked tears of the sportlers.do you?

Yes, because we discourage children from taking sport as a career. We force then to take engineering and medicine.

Our athletes run barefoot, sell their property to boot ticket to reach the competition venue. Whereas, several crores are reserved by Sports Ministry from the budget but we don't know where the money is going. At the same time China, US, Japan win thirty/forty GOLD medals in each event but we have to wait for just one, like the desert tribes wait for a rain drop. What a shame !

Dear.. Please come out from your negative thinking do you know from 1980 Olympic to 1996 Olympic India was unable to win a single medal. From 1996 to this Olympic India is improving very well. First try to think positively
