Bengaluru: Unhappy with portfolios, BJP ministers threaten to resign

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Aug 8: The newly formed Bommai-led cabinet seems to be already witnessing grumblings as a section of ministers minced no words in expressing unhapinness over the portfolios assigned to them. Soon after chief minister Basavaraj Bommai allocated the portfolios to cabinet ministers on Saturday August 7, some ministers such as Anand Singh and MTB Nagaraj openly expressed their disappointment. Sriramulu also joined them.

Minister Anand Singh said he was extremely annoyed with the tourism portfolio. He said that he will approach former chief minister Yediyurappa as well as Bommai and appeal to them to change his portfolio. In a veiled threat, he said, "I had asked for a different portfolio. What is allocated to me is not the one I asked for. If I do not get what I want, I will follow my own way.

"Everyone knows that I was the first one to resign from Congress and help BJP come to power in the state. It does not mean that the BJP government was formed only because of me. There are many who have resigned like me," said Anand Singh.

Minister MTB Nagaraj tweeted, "I am not happy with the portfolio that is allocated to me. Former chief minister Yediyurappa and current chief minister Bommai have not kept their promise. I will convey my decision in the next two to three days."

BJP MLA of Hassan Preetam J Gowda said, “I will not tolerate if chief minister Bommai plays adjustment politics. If Bommai visits Deve Gowda within one or two days of becoming chief minister, what is the message going to public? Revanna has already started saying in public that chief minister Bommai listens to what he says."

Responding to the disappointment expressed by some ministers, chief minister Bommai said, "Portfolios are distributed keeping in mind change of administration. I will speak to all ministers who are not happy. The accusation of Preetam Gowda that he was not given the position because I listened to what Deve Gowda said is not true."

These guys priority is not to serve the public but to loot the public money. Once they have taken an oath to serve the public they should do it honestly irrespective of the portfolio allocated. Every ministry in this state has such a wide opportunity for development that these guy who are blinded by selfishness and greed won't understand. Do we still have to vote for people who are this greedy ??? irrespective of the party, caste they belong to. we as honest tax payers pay taxes for our nation building but people like these loot our money, left right and center.

All those are unhappy with the portfolios allotted to them should resign from the cabinet as they feel that they are incompetent to hold that post. they all know very well in the next elections it will be very difficult for BJP to come to power without Yeddi, they want to loot maximum, because it is their last Chance.

My opinion is that, if they are not happy with the portfolios, give resignation on the spot and come out. Why this unhealthy drama. Bommayi will give to somebody else. That's all. I think all members of the Assembly are ready to take responsibility, and waiting.

This is what Sir Winston Churchill predicted 75 years ago. "Power will go to the hands of rascals, rogues, freebooters; all Indian leaders will be of low calibre & men of straw. They will fight amongst themselves for power and India will be lost in political squabbles. ... A day would come when even air and water would be taxed in India.” Only God alone can save India and it's poor.

Chandu you are a very wise man. Good comments. India is a nation of talent but all these politicians will destroy the beautiful nation either by corruptions, religious bias and descrimination through politics, attacks and many other forms. All we can do is pray for our mother land of India to be prosperous and generous to everyone.

The Indian Constitution needs to be amended and any MP / MLA who refuses to accept his or her ministry unconditionally or tries to influence the portfolio allocation in whatever manner should be automatically barred from active politics for 6 years. The ministers are supposed to work for the good of the people, in which case the choice of portfolio should not make any difference. Unless portfolio = personal gain. ......

Greedy and power hungry politicians are surely not for serving people. They are always selfish and problem creators. It's not fully their fault also. Fault is of parties who gave them Tickets and people who have trusted and voted them. They are self serving and betrayers. Tickets givers and their voters have very poor judgement!
