Mangalore: Meeting Fixes Uniform Price for Sand

Mangalore, Sep 21: At a meeting held under the presidentship of minister, Krishna J Palemar, in the office of the deputy commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district here on Monday September 20, uniform price for sand was fixed. The price of two units (a truckload) of sand being supplied to the city has been pegged at Rs 1800.

It was decided to cancel the leases of those who charge more than what the district administration has fixed. The district administration will soon decide about the price of sand being supplied to rural areas. The meeting also decided that the regional transport office and district deputy commissioner can sit together and decide about the necessity of having a unique colour for sand transport trucks.

MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLA, N Yogish Bhat, deputy commissioner, V Ponnuraj, superintendent of police, Dr Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, people holding sand mining leases, and officials of various departments were present. The participants came up with several suggestions.
