M'lore: Winners of Ambit Short Film Contest Distributed Prizes

Mangalore, Sep 23: The prize distribution ceremony of short film competition organized by the Ambit Computer and Technical Training Institute to mark Independence Day celebrations was held, recently. 

Ambit ambassador Prasad B N was the co-ordinator, Dr S M Shivprakash, secretary, Karavali Belli Mandala, a sister concern of Karnataka Film Academy and Jayaram Navada, animator were the juries.

The first place was bagged by Naveen Bekal, Hi-Vision Production here whose documentary named ‘Miss U…’ the story based on the couple who got married recently and became victims of the May 22 Bajpe plane tragedy.

The prize award ceremony was compered by Prasad B N. Dr S M Shivprakash was the chief guest. Dr S M Shivprakash praised the film directors for the interest shown toeards making short films and stressed upon the importance to showcase environment and greenery through the medium.

Jagadish of Ambit has assured full co-operation for the production of short films in future.

The second place was bagged by Sithesh Chandra Govind, Dia Productions whose story titled ‘’The Glory of Lord Shree Veera Venkatesha - A Saga Unfold’’ – A 25-minute short film was released recently by the senior pontiff of Sri Kashi Math Shree Sudheendra Thirtha Swami at Sri Venktarama Temple, Car Street here. The short film, which is related to ‘Kodial Theru’, the famous car festival of the city was made by Sithesh Chandra Govind, an art director from Mangalore. This is his first directorial film.The unique film is the director’s maiden attempt in short documentary filmmaking.

Third place went to ‘Rabiya’ made by Jalesh and team of St Aloysius College. This story is about a Muslim girl who is very much fond of classical dance and opposed by her own community and she ultimately removes all obstacles and triumphs with the courage given by her mother.
