Udupi: Motor Bikes Collide – Rider Killed

Udupi, Sep 24: Ratnakar Shetty (27) from Keelinje village, who was riding a motor bike, was killed in a road accident that occurred on Thursday September 23 evening near Salmara railway bridge in Uppoor village neighbouring Brahmavar in the district.

Shetty, employed in a mess in Manipal, was on leave, it is learnt. He was returning home after visiting a friend in Doddanagudde in the city, when his motor bike collided with another bike from the opposite direction at Salmara. Shetty suffered severe injuries to his chest and breathed his last on the spot. The other motor bike was being driven by the local lineman, who escaped with minor injuries.

Both the bikes have suffered extensive damages in the accident. The lineman is being treated in the district hospital here. Ratnakar, who was the only surviving son of his parents, is survived by parents and three elder sisters. His younger brother had lost his life after getting electrocuted a few years ago.
