Karkala, Aug 16: “We have the responsibility of providing values and culture along with education to students, so that the teachers and elders may receive respect. The service of the fellowman is equal to the service of God. Contentment is possible with pro society thinking,” said Lions club president Rajesh Shenoy.

He was speaking after presiding over the programme held by Lions club Karkala at Hotel Prakash auditorium to identify and felicitate SSLC toppers in the current academic year.

Durga Thellar Manjunath Pai memorial government high school students Vikram and his mother Latha who have passed together in the SSLC examination for the academic year 2020-21 were honoured on the occasion.

Retired bank general manager I Ravindranath Pai and retired bank officer Laxmi R Pai, Durga Thellar Manjunath Pai memorial government high school teacher Smitha Bhandary, teacher Shivaraj K, Ravi, Lion club’s Mithun R Hegde, Subhash Suvarna, Lions club secretary Nithyananda Bhandary and treasurer Prakash Pinto were present.

Devaraya Prabhu compered the programme.
