Bengaluru, Aug 19: As already decided, physical classes will begin for the students studying in classes 9 to 12. Already the education department has issued guidelines for the high school section. Now, new guidelines have been issued to PU students and their lecturers which are as follows.

PU physical classes have to be conducted in districts having less than 2 percent positivity rate from August 23 onwards.

In case of the districts having a positivity rate of over two percent, they will have to follow instructions contained in further order that may be issued by the government.

First and second PU classes are to be held simultaneously. But only 50 percent of students will get the opportunity to attend. 50 percent of students will attend physical classes for the first three days from Monday to Wednesday while the others will attend physical classes on the other three days. Those students who attend physical classes for the first three days will attend online classes on the remaining days (Thursday to Saturday).

In case of colleges having student strength of less than 100, if they have spacious rooms, they can conduct physical classes on full scale with all Covid safety measures for all the students. This means they will conduct physical classes on all days of the week.

Attendance of the students should be made compulsory subject to local conditions.

Distance should be maintained in every class and room as per rules. The number of students should be fixed duly taking into account the size of the rooms.

General control measures

• Parents have to issue confirmation letters that their children do not have any symptoms of infection
• Students should not form crowds inside the classroom and college premises
• Minimum physical distance of six feet between students should be maintained
• Use of masks, face shields is compulsory
• Repeated washing of hands with soap should be followed
• When coughing and sneezing, it is mandatory to cover the face with kerchiefs or tissue paper
• Spitting in open spaces is prohibited

For lecturers and college staff

On first priority, all PU college principals, lecturers and non-teaching staff should get vaccinated compulsorily. All the deputy directors should take steps to ensure that teaching and non-teaching staff of the PU colleges within their jurisdictions get themselves vaccinated.
