Bengaluru: Cocaine valued at Rs 11 crore found concealed in Nigerian national's stomach

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Aug 22: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) of the city have arrested a Nigerian national on charges of smuggling cocaine worth Rs 11 crore. The tablets which were found in the stomach of the arrested accused were recovered and confiscated by the police.

The accused was arrested at the Kempe Gowda International airport here. He arrived from Johannesburg into the city on August 19. His ticket package contained free food, water and beverages. But it is said that he refused to take any of these.

DRI had received a tip-off of cocaine being smuggled into India from overseas, and hence the authorities had kept a watch on nationals arriving from West Asia. As the flight in which the accused was travelling landed at the international airport, the sleuths of DRI also came to know that the accused had not consumed any food or water during his flight. The DRI officials immediately got alerted and checked the baggage of the accused. As they could not find any contraband goods in his baggage, they subjected him to scanning. During scanning it came to light that the accused was carrying drugs in his stomach.

The accused was immediately shifted to Victoria hospital in the city and the cocaine tablets were removed from the stomach.

It has come to light during the interrogation that the accused had arrived in the city to hand over the drugs to an unknown stranger. He also said that a room was booked in a hotel where he was scheduled to meet the stranger.

Result: The big fish escapes, the cops get promoted , The drug eventually disappears and makes someone mighty rich, and the Indian tax payer gets poorer and pays to feed the prisoner for ten or fifteen years.

Ok, one person is caught and so much cocaine is found but not all are caught. Many would have been successful in carrying the stuff and passed already. So this business must be going on all the time, this incident is only an exception.

It has come to light during the interrogation that the accused had arrived in the city to hand over the drugs to an unknown stranger. He also said that a room was booked in a hotel where he was scheduled to meet the stranger......Even if he discloses the name and contact of the person Who is a powerful like politicians, then this is the outcome from the police report. Why he was not allowed to go to the hotel and arrested both the supplier and receiver together...?????

It looks like DRI officials wanted to close the case at first end itself without catching unknown buyer from India even though they had prior information about this deal. Advance intelligence officials would have caught till end user as well.

I am against any type of reservations in government jobs. See how stupidly the DRI operated. They didn't use any brains at all. After the scanning, they could have shown no expressions and let him free. While he was subjected to screening, they could have placed a GPS chip on his luggage or his dress. They could have tracked him to the buyer. With a little bit of care and situational decisions, they could have got hold of a few more people of this network.

Perhaps the the cops could have carried some covert operations , Let him loose at the airport and see whom he will contact and so on and take on the entire network. Just by catching the carrier what will they achieve other than just one shipment of drugs.

India too should have a strict law such as hanging to death, then such acts will not be repeated. This may be the one of the case where this smuggler got caught.

Do Saudi authorities are successful to curb drug smuggling where in more than dozen people or more hanged to death..!! Afghanistan and Pakistan is central point from where in drugs supplied to middle east and than at last reach to european countries. Terrorists are gaining income from the same after all Saudi Arabia is in forefront to recognise Taleban. Aap Log Bolthe Kuch Ho...Karthe Kuch Aur. We wont trust you any more. Only we can blame God for destroying peace on this beautiful earth.

These are contract dealers. they just move packets to given locations, they may not even know what is inside the packets. Its like encrypted WhatsApp messages, actual gang members are concealed and hard to crack. Haven't you seen in movies. ?
