Karnataka registers 1,189 new cases, DK still leading in single-day spikes

Bengaluru, Aug 22: Karnataka on Sunday August 22 recorded 1,189 new coronavirus cases.

As per the bulletin released by the state health department, the active cases in the state stand at 20,556. Among the districts, Dakshina Kannada once again registered the highest number of single-day cases with 286 new infections, while Bengaluru Urban reported 267 new cases.

 

As many as 22 deaths due to coronavirus were reported in the state on Sunday, with Dakshina Kannada alone recording 4 deaths and Bengaluru Urban and several other districts reporting two each. With this, the toll so far has risen to 37,145.

The state recorded 1,456 discharges from hospitals, taking the total discharges so far to 28,80,889.

So far, Karnataka has seen 29,38,616 positive cases since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

The positivity rate for the day stands at 0.94%, while the case fatality rate for the day is 1.85%.

As many as 3,69,20,514 people have received vaccination so far.
