Talents Galore - Jeppu Parishioners Record Hat-trick Performance

Mangalore, Sep 28: Compared to other churches in the region, the means of the parish of St Joseph Church in Jeppu in the city are limited. Yet, this parish has proved time and again, to be the most talented parish in the Mangalore Diocese. The parishioners of this church enthusiastically participate in various competitions conducted annually by Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS), Don Bosco Hall here, and win a slew of prizes.
Under the able leadership of the parish priest and other parish leaders, Jeppu parish has been performing extremely well and winning a number of prizes every time. For the third time in a row, Jeppu parishioners stood first in terms of overall performance in the competitions held this year.
On the occasion of the 4th Annual Konkani Singing Competition and Silver Jubilee year celebration of Konkani Natak Sabha, Jeppu Parish were the winners of the permanent shield
for singing competitions in the year 1968
As a reward for their performance, they have won permanent shield for the parish, replicating a 40-year-old history of winning a permanent shield in singing competition under the excellent leadership of the then parish priest and the great legendary Konkani singer, Wilfy Rebimbus, and his family members, way back in the year 1968.
To rejoice the occasion, a grand procession with the shields and cups the parish members have won, was taken out on Saturday September 25. The next day, a get-together was organized at St Joseph Natak Sangh Hall, where all those who participated in the competitions, their supporters and well-wishers joined in the celebrations.
The programme was presided over by Santosh Sequeira of Santosh Arrangers, Kankanady. Fr Joseph Martis, Fr J B Crasta, Sr Irene, Jacintha Alfred, Eddy Netto, Vishwas Rebimbus and Pamela Santos were at the dais.
The dignitaries showered praises on the talented participants from the parish for winning laurels for the parish. A feast was also arranged on the occasion.
