Mangaluru, Aug 24: Kiran from Jeppu here had joined a super market in Dammam, Saudi Arabia as a cashier in the year 2006. In view of the problems his family faced back home, he had continuously worked there without visiting his home for six years. After six years he expressed his wish to go home but his employer denied permission citing certain reasons.

After some more months, Kiran insisted on going home at which the super market owner registered a complaint claiming that Kiran had stolen ten lac Saudi riyals. The complaint was probed by the police station and the court for 18 months, at the end of which Kiran was absolved of the charges. Six months after the judgement came, Kiran was preparing to go home when the employer again requested the concerned to reopen the case and reinvestigate it.

Kiran who came to know of this, driven by the desire to visit his hometown, tried to go back via Bahrain. Because of some rules and regulations, he got stuck in Saudi Arabia for one more year. After the problem ended, he repeatedly requested the employer to allow him to leave for India but permission was denied. Several organizations tried their best to help Kiran, but their efforts went in vain.

The matter came to the attention of Muhammed Malebettu, president of Karnataka Cultural Foundation (KCF) Saudi Arabia's Santwana department. Once he began efforts, he worked continuously to help Kiran, talked to the company owner and found a solution. He provided documents needed to the police station and court to clear the case, and succeeded in paving the way for Kiran's return home.

After all the documents were furnished, with the support of Mangaluru Association of Saudi Arabia, Dammam, Kiran was provided with air tickets. He reached home on August 21.
