Mangaluru, Aug 25: The 132-year-old Mangaluru north police station located at Bunder has been now renovated under the initiation of the then inspector Govind Raju who was serving there from 2019 to 2021.

The police station is one of the oldest buildings and is an eye-catching structure. The building was in dilapidated condition and inspector Govind Raju showed his interest towards renovating the building.

The inspector took help from the locals and renovated the building. The roof, floor, paint, electric work, parking shed and flag post was all repaired and renovated at a cost of Rs 7-8 lac.

Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar was awestruck with the building and shared the history of the building on social media. He later visited the police station. The building was built in the year 1889 spending Rs 16,000 on a 0.67-acre land.

Shashi Kumar was accompanied by DCP Hariram Shankar, B P Dinesh Kumar, ACP Hegde and others.

Congratulations to officer Govind Raju! 132 years old vintage structure and our government has no money nor will to renovate despite huge GST and various other taxes! Elected reps are busy with blame game, communal statements and provocations! Its high time government informs all kinds of tax payers....where the money goes and why there is no money for basic needs!

Excellent. Good initiative. Well done. But, looks like still stuck in 1889. Using the damn old ledgers and not a single terminal/ PC in sight.
