Mangaluru: Sexual harassment of minor girl in rented house - Owner arrested

Mangaluru, Aug 26: The personnel of the women's police station in the city have arrested the owner of a house on the allegation of sexually harassing a girl living in the rented house.

The arrested accused happens to be Ramakrishna from Permude. A woman of Shivamogga origin had rented a house owned by Ramakrishna, and was staying there along with her three children. On urgent work, the mother had left for Shivamogga on August 21, leaving behind her three children. She had requested the wife of the accused to take care of her children in her absence.

In the evening, the children had visited the house of the accused to watch television programmes. On this occasion, the wife of the accused had left with her two children to collect firewood. It is alleged that making use of this opportunity, Ramakrishna sexually harassed an eight-year-old girl. On the next day too he harassed her sexually and also attempted to rape her, it has been alleged.

When her mother returned from Shivamogga, the girl narrated her experience to her. The mother thereafter filed a complaint in Pandeshwar women's police station, requesting them to take action against the accused. The police who registered the case, produced the accused in the court after which he was remanded to judicial custody.
