Kundapur, Aug 27: It has been several months since vehicles began to move on Kundapur flyover. But the area directly below the flyover has become unsightly and stinky. Road construction materials and equipment, pipes, iron roads and other waste materials that are heaped here create a sense of uneasiness among the people.

The beauty of Kundapur had been hurt by the four-laning work of the highway. Even though the work on the fly over began long back, several things are yet to be undertaken here even now. Navayuga company which built the highway, and which should have carried the unused materials and other waste from below the flyover and left the area neat and clean, has not given any attention to this work so far.

The flyover is located in an important area of Kundapur. But if one looks at the space below the flyover, it looks like a town without any movement of the people. The temporary toilets standing at various places are dirty and because of lack of maintenance, they have the potential of becoming the breeding grounds for infectious diseases. The officials who are expected to keep an eye on these aspects, have to sensitise Navayuga company towards its duties and responsibilities.

Construction materials have been strewn around here haphazardly. This is the heart of the town and it needs to be kept neat. At least the concerned can neatly arrange the materials and clean up the vacant area for now. One hopes that the concerned will do the needful and attend to this work immediately.
