Udupi second among Karnataka districts in Covid vaccination drive

Udupi, Aug 27: The district has vaccinated around 83.37% people against Covid and occupies the second spot in the state. Bengaluru city district, which has vaccinated 99% of the people is on the top of the list.

Mysuru, Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu occupy the next spots in the list. The target given is for vaccinating people above the age of 18 years. Accordingly, Udupi has to vaccinate 10,33,870 people. Till Wednesday, August 25, 8,61,963 people were vaccinated. Out of this 6,25,086 people have received first dose while 2,36,877 have received both doses.

In Udupi district, 2,77,554 people in the age group of 18 to 45 have received the first dose, while 34,962 in the same age group have got both doses. In the above 45 years category, 3,58,707 have received the first dose while 1,91,979 were administered both doses.

Out of the 23,889 health workers in the district 23,570 (99%) have received the first dose while 19,609 (82%) have got the second also. Out of the 8,120 corona warriors 8,079 (99%) are administered the first dose while 4,107 (51%) have received both doses.

Though pregnant and lactating women are excluded from taking Covid vaccination, some have received the same. No untoward incidents are reported. According to the statistics provided by the health department, there are 14,000 pregnant and 15,000 lactating women are there in the district. Out of this 4,000 pregnant and 5,000 lactating women have received the vaccination.
