Another shocker: 15-year-old girl gang raped by four persons in Belagavi

Belagavi, Aug 27 (IANS): As Karnataka still continues to be in shock over the Mysuru gang rape, another incident of gang rape of a minor came to light on Friday.

The father of the victim has lodged a complaint in this connection with Ghataprabha police station in Belagavi district. According to police the incident took place 20 days ago and the parents had not approached the police fearing social stigma.

The 15-year-old girl was raped by four persons when she had gone to her farmland alone. She belonged to a poor family and her parents feared that if they complained it would harm the future of the girl, the police said.

However, the parents fearing the same kind of assault on others by the rapists, have now approached the police and lodged a complaint. The police have registered a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and are investigating the crime.

The details of the accused persons have been collected from the victim and they will be arrested soon, the police said.

It's shameful our youth are not guided by the elders to walk the right path. Ultimately what do they achieve. They should be treated mentally and this disgraceful act should never ever be the talk of any town

Yes ....moral policing is done on buses, pubs, hotels etc. But, they can not do moral policing when such things happen ? Those who do moral policing are only involved in such heinous acts and not getting caught because of influence ? Why you all cant protect laxmis of our state ? Alongwith vigilance on cow trafficking please keep vigil on our ladies tooo!! After all she will be someone's wife tomorrow

Cynthia DK,I find moral Policing is is not good. Many people in name of Moral policing ,try to simply to follow girls when they doubt some one.Govt or Police must stop this.Only police have right to follow a doubted person not any jack and jill.Sadly Police are not doing against this and they feel be right.Thats the bad Part of it.Can you remember what happened in Padil long time back?No wonder girls simply disappear fearing these goondas. They say saving girls?

Very sad. I dont believe government has taken any responsibility in protecting the women. This is a very dangerous trend and not very healthy for the society . When boy and girl goes out moral police stop them and questions them but the rapes happens where are these moral police? Govt should take heavy responsibility and stop such attacks.

K.S Mayya Mangalore /Bangalore,where is the question of getting passport and Govt.job when the person is a accused one in rape case and forever will be behind bars and it is a case of minor. She is only 15years.Belagavi is a place from long not with a good name connected. Not many educated or civilized area. Now India is become famous everywhere with rapes .Not to laugh.whats the use of digitalisation and soon smart city?Govt should really think now of punishments to rapists of capital punishment .Otherwise girls /women are not at all safe.Or castrieren all these men?Govt.must look after such girls and give them free treatment in hospital.Hope she is not very much injured.wish her fast recovery from the shock.
