M'luru: Moral policing at Surathkal - Accused get bail at police station itself, public express rage

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Sep 28: The public has expressed rage over the action of police in which they slapped bailable IPC section on the accused of the moral policing case at Surathkal in which activists of Bajrang Dal waylaid medical students who had gone for outing and used abusive words.

Surprisingly, all the accused are released on bail from the police station itself. The public expressed extreme disappointment on the action of police. It is also said that police have discriminated in the sections they slapped on the accused.

Recently, in Bengaluru, a Muslim woman was riding pillion with her Hindu colleague on the bike. A gang of Muslim youth had stopped and abused them. Bengaluru police who immediately swung into action, arrested the accused and slapped non-bailable section of 153(A), 506, 341, 34, 504 and 323 of IPC and sent them to Prison.

The chief minister and home minister had also warned that this kind of moral policing will be dealt strongly by the police in future.

In the ruckus that was created in the presence of Surathkal police by the Bajrang Dal activists on innocent students, police arrested the accused, but slapped IPC 341, 323 and 504 which are bailable.

Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said, “It is not right to compare the IPC sections that were slapped in cases that occurred elsewhere with the Surathkal incident. IPC section is applicable to all citizens throughout India. No discrimination is done in Surathkal case.”

Clear indication of our law system and administration and Judiciary is following or favouring Hindutwa to reach the goal of India's leadership to make India a Hindu Nation. (secularism seems to be undermined) In Afghanistan they are following Taliban culture. Saudia a strictly Muslim country is trying to liberalize the rules by encouraging women in the main stream of politics, administration and social and cultural, scientific advances. We being a developing country is in the grip of religiious fundamentalism.

We have strict laws. Now a days increase in crime, mainly due to selective use of sections by police. The courts can give their judgment, based on the reports of police and evidences. If police is partial, then you cannot expect fair judgment. We should support honest officials. Then only we can bring down crimes.

There was a time, many decades ago, as children we would shiver in our boots at the very mention of the word 'police.' That was also the time when the men in khaki were known for their uprightness and fair play. If at all any policeman would indulge in foul play, the higher ups would pull them up. What do we have these days? Policemen who abet crime, wrong doing. In this case, it appears as though the police have meekly surrendered to their political bosses. What a sad and sorry state of affairs. Where is justice in this country?

Ignoring such criminal acts could lead to dangerous activities and encourage others to do the same. If Govt. or the Law supports such activities, then it will encourage others to do such criminal activities. Need to take proper steps to eliminate such criminal activities by the Law of the Land/Constitution for a better tomorrow.

FYI, Indian legal system doesn’t have a law to interfere with any citizen’s movement and social interaction in the society. Only the legal authority is allowed to interfere like police provided there is valid complaint registered in police station against them from their immediate guardians or care takers only if they are minors. Legally these goons are at fault on every count for taking law in thier hands. Unfortunately since 2014 govt follows Nagpur constitution disrespecting and insulting the Indian constitution . Only terrorists and anti national traitors do this

When Mr.Gopal Hosoor was the SP of Mangalore, he was successful in controling these type of jobless goons. We are in a democratic country. Who has given right to Bhajrang Dal members to do the immoral policing in the state? Who are they? Are they above the law of the land? Even the police are supporting them indirectly. Thats why common people do not trust police. But we have great faith in juduciary. Hope the honourable courts will put a permanent stop to the immoral policing of Bhajrang Dal and other outfits.
