Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 1: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, October 1 reported 86 new coronavirus cases and two deaths, while Udupi registered 23 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 18,73,110 samples have been tested so far, out of which 17,58,722 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,14,388 out of which 929 are currently active.
As many as 91 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
The district recorded two deaths due to coronavirus on Friday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,662.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,84,270 as fine in 87,915 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,38,019 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 23 new cases were reported on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 76,322 out of which 177 are currently active.
A total of 52 patients were discharged from hospitals on Friday.
Out of 23 new patients, 17 are in home isolation while 6 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 23 cases, 16 cases are symptomatic and 7 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 13 new cases, Kundapur registered 3 and Karkala 6 and one case was from out of the district.
Coronavirus has claimed 474 lives in the district so far.
So far 8,98,732 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 4,11,573 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
