Mangaluru/Udupi, Oct 3: Dakshina Kannada on Sunday, October 3 reported 76 new coronavirus cases and one death, while Udupi registered 33 cases.
As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 18,92,647 samples have been tested so far, out of which 17,78,083 have turned out to be negative.
The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,14,564 out of which 892 are currently active.
As many as 103 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday.
The district recorded one death due to coronavirus on Sunday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,663.
The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.
So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,06,90,470 as fine in 87,977 incidents of mask violation.
Udupi
As per the district health bulletin, as many as 11,45,505 samples have been tested so far.
A total of 33 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 76,378 out of which 103 are currently active.
A total of 61 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday.
Out of 33 new patients, 31 are in home isolation while 2 are in Covid-designated hospitals.
Among the 33 cases, 30 cases are symptomatic and 3 are asymptomatic.
While Udupi reported 17 new cases, Kundapur registered 12 and Karkala 4. Coronavirus has claimed 474 lives in the district so far.
So far 8,99,156 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 4,12,560 have received the second dose.
A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far and one case is active.
