Mangaluru, Oct 6: Yakub (43), a resident of Adyar Kannur, was arrested by the city police on Tuesday October 5. He has been accused of intercepting a college girl who was walking towards her home after alighting from a bus. It is said that he also told her 'I Love You,' in addition to pulling her by her hands towards him and trying to hug her.
The college girl, after getting down from the bus at the Mission Compound bus stand in Harekala village, was proceeding to her home. Yakub suddenly blocked her movement, uttered the words, 'I Love You' and pulled her towards him in an effort to embrace her. But the girl resisted his attempt and moved further. The accused then hid behind some bushes and made obscene hand gestures to the girl. At this, the girl shouted for help. The villagers, who heard her shout, tried to capture the accused. They also informed the Konaje police. The Konkaje police took him into custody at Eliyarpadavu. It is said that Yakub's relatives live at Adkare, Deralakatte.
