Kundapur, Oct 8: The additional district and sessions court here has, for the second time, rejected the bail application moved by BJP leader Balachandra Bhat. Bhat is one of the accused named in the murder case of Yadamoge Hosabalu Uday Ganiga.
The court had on July 23, rejected the bail application moved for the first time. Now, after the police filed charge sheet in the court, advocates for Bhat filed the bail petition. Judge of the court, Raveendra M Joshi, passed an order quashing the application.
During the preliminary investigation, it was found that the accused and the deceased had differences between them over an issue. Prima facie it was found on the basis of evidences that Bhat had taken part in the murder ploy. As the accused is influential and has political background, district public prosecutor Beloor Prakashchandra Shetty, had argued against granting him bail.
As per a complaint lodged in Shankaranarayana police station, Yadamoge gram panchayat president Pranesh Yadiyal and associates had killed Uday Ganiga on the night of June 5. Main accused Pranesh Yadiyal and Rajesh Bhat, as well as Balachandra Bhat, Manoj Kumar and gram panchayat member Sadashiva Naik, who are accused of hatching a conspiracy, were arrested. Another accused is still at large.
