Panaji: Omission of names of Nehru, Bandodkar - Government withdraws eminent list

Panaji, Oct 12: A list published by the government of eminent leaders of the country was withdrawn as it embarrassed the BJP government. The list did not carry the names of first CM of Goa Dayanand Bandodkar and first PM of India Jawaharlal Nehru.

Director of the department of information and publicity Dipak Bandekar said that the list was withdrawn with immediate effect.

On Thursday, October 7, the ruling BJP government approved the official use of photographs of eminent leaders of the country that had the names of Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, President Ram Nath Kovind, PM Modi and CM Sawant. However, the glaring glitch was the omission of photographs of first PM of the country Jawaharlal Nehru and first CM of Goa Dayanand Bandodkar.

Congress immediately took exception to the circular issued mentioning that the first PM of the country and first CM of the state need to be included in the list. So the government recalled the list published.
