Karkala: Theft from petrol bunks - Driver-turned-thief held

Karkala, Oct 13: The police personnel have arrested Santosh Shetty from Mudayikadu in Beluvai, Moodbidri. Shetty had allegedly broken open the door of Siddivinayaka petrol bunk at Sanoor and stolen items from there. He was arrested from near Sanoor check post, the police officials revealed.

During the questioning, the arrested accused reportedly told the police that he had tried to steal money from the State Bank ATM at Ananthashayana, Karkala, and had also broken into Siddivinayaka petrol bunk in Sanoor the same day. He further admitted having attempted theft at Kodyadka petrol bunk by breaking open its lock.

Shetty was a driver by profession and used to drive a bus which moved on Mangaluru-Moodbidri-Karkala route. He faces previous c ases of murder in Urwa Mangaluru police station limits as well as arson and bike theft in Moodbidri police station. These cases are in different stages of hearing in courts.
