Bengaluru: Rs 100 sanctioned to bus staff for performing Ayudha Puja

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Oct 15: The fact that the transport minister, B Sriramulu had sanctioned Rs 100 per bus towards performing Ayudha Puja for the buses has given rise to heartburn and dissatisfaction.

Several employees said that the transport minister might be able to spend lacs of rupees to celebrate festival. "The transport minister, who was reluctant to take charge of transport portfolio, is continuing in that department out of compulsions. He does not know about the problems of the transport employees. Because if he knew about them, he would not have sanctioned Rs 100 per bus for the Ayudha Puja. How can anyone expect us to celebrate the festival out of Rs 100? The minister is well off but what about us? How can we celebrate the festival and offer puja at such a measly amount," they have been heard commenting.

The employees pointed out that prices of things have skyrocketed and it is impossible to procure flower, banana plants, fruits and other puja items out of Rs 100. They said they fail to understand why the transport department is behaving like this, in respect of buses which bring huge revenue.

The transport employees also said that the department has earmarked Rs 40 per vehicle for performing puja of cars and jeeps of the department. They said they are not aware of any shop that provides puja items for this money.

It is not the question of granting Rs.100 or 1000/-. It is the question whether a government can grant money for conducting pooja of a particular religion. Ours is a secular country and all religions should be treated equally. Does the government sanction money to its employees for celebrating Christmas and Eid? Why then, this double standard? Is it a prelude to declare India a Hindu Rashtra?

K K ;Baddruddin Bajpe, what you say is right partly. It is mostly given on private basis.not a must. Why dont you ask?Sometimes when it is a Private company they give mostly But Govt doesnt I think. Here we too get (were getting)for christmas a bonus of months salary who are long time in company in Novemebr itself.to all ,Now it is reduced due to certai reasons ,but give only to long time workers.Private companys are on their success or accordingly. So ask your boss .nothing like asking ,you dont loose but only win may be.one shouldnt always focus always on religion.

We all seen for decades now how all and everyone in this nation used to worship their tools and weapons, during this festival on their own, with great faith and freewill. BJP govt paying Rs.100 for such pooja now, shows the extent of poverty Modi led BJP distributed in past 7yrs.

whole year these bus drivers and conductors make so much of money apart from their salaries..Can't they afford to put one garland in front of the bus on Ayudha Pooja? Sri ramulu had done the right thing as the Bokkasa of govt is emptied by the bacchali govt

Yes.....true.... They speak about 2/3months of loss. Before pandemic, buses were plying jamm packed. If theres no profit, who will run the bus ? They increased the rate of bus fare.....Bus fares are sky rocketed. Moreover, many are not giving the change back. That's why so many wear thick rope like golden chain on their necks and having personal vehicles..because of pandemicsRemaining other things for everyone rich and medium class, daily wagers remain the same....Well said Kujumaji...Then how much an ordinary person to cry ??!!...How much you cry and however you cry government knows the details of every account holder since its linked with aadhar card and atm card, property etc. No one is poor. Just throwing mud on the eyes of government...
