Bangalore, Oct 30 (DHNS) : Bedecked as a ‘prince’, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi arrived in a Mercedes at the Alva residence, a farmhouse near Lumbini Garden through the back gate to avoid media glare, a few hours before his high profile wedding with Priyanka Alva.
Close relatives accompanied the groom in two cars. It was around 6 pm when the groom and the baaraat arrived at the venue for the wedding, from Hotel Chancery Pavilion. The farmhouse, which saw no activity until afternoon, was suddenly flooded with relatives, family members and guests.
After Vivek’s arrival, the baaraatis began to enter the venue in posh cars. And in no time, the dhols began beating and fireworks exploded into the sky.
Embellished sherwani
Vivek Oberoi, wearing a maroon-gold mix heavily embellished sherwani and turban, climbed the mare (ghodi) and took rounds of the venue. All the baaraatis were seen dancing to the beats of the dhol to celebrate the occasion.
“It was easy for us to track the way to the wedding venue as placards saying ‘Alva’s residence’ were put up a few kilometers ahead of the venue,” said a guest, who, decked up in a pure Kanjeevaram saree, was excited to attend the grand affair.
The decor for the wedding was said to be a mix of Mangalorean and South Indian cultures. Most of the decoration materials came from the City, but a Maharashtrian company had apparently created the outdoor designs for all the functions.
The stars were shining bright at Alva’s residence as noted film maker, Mani Ratnam was the first guest from outside Bangalore to arrive. More than 1,000 guests were expected to attend the wedding ceremony, which will befollowed by a reception at the ITC Grand Maratha in Mumbai on Saturday.
