Panaji: Absconding accused in land scam arrested by Quepem police

Panaji, Oct 22: Prakash Deikar, accused in the land scam case, who was absconding from police was arrested on the night of Wednesday by Quepem police. He is accused of defrauding many people on the pretext of selling land.

Accused Deikar was about to flee to Chennai from Cuncolim at around 11.30 pm on Wednesday, when he was apprehended by the police. Cops confiscated 11 sim cards from him, which he was using alternatively to avoid detection of his whereabouts.

Accused was arrested under sections 406, 420 and 34 of IPC. He was presented at the JMFC court of Quepem where he was sentenced to four days police custody.
