Mumbai, Nov 3: R K Shetty, a Mangalorean and internationally acclaimed financial consultant as well as Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) member and Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) professional employed in the metro was conferred with the ‘Karnataka Rajyotsava Award’ during a glittering function held in Bangalore on Monday November 1.
Radhakrishna (RK) Shetty is the lone recipient of the Rajyotsava Award from the metro for his social concern and for promoting Kannada in night high schools in the metro.
He is the son of the late Krishna and Appi Shetty, natives of Kambihalli, Chikmagalur district, Karnataka. He migrated to the metro and graduated in commerce. He joined LIC as a career agent and steadily grew to become an MDRT member.
Shetty is well known in the metro and is arespected LIC professional. He was the first Indian to be chosen as regional vice-president of MDRT in 2009, in its history of 82 years. He was the key speaker at the international financial experts meet held recently in Indianapolis, USA.
He had constructed a school in his native village of Kambihalli in Chikmagalur district, due to his concern for the economically poor students. He has been annually donating study materials and uniforms to poor students studying in the municipal school located in Asia’s largest slum – Dharavi- in the metro.
Shetty has been contributing for the social welfare projects of Bunts Sangh besides organizing matrimonial alliance programmes for the physically disabled from all over the country in the metro in association with Juhu Giants Club.
He is married to Anita and they have two children – Tarun and Shweta. The family resides in Santa Cruz (East).
