Bantwal, Oct 30: Assistant commissioner (AC) Madan Mohan has directed tahsildar Rashmi S R to identify DC manna land and provide details of encroached and available land. He was speaking after presiding over the grievances meeting of backward classes and backward tribes in Bantwal on Saturday October 30. The leaders of SC and ST drew attention about non distribution of land to beneficiaries.
“Schools and government offices constructed on DC manna land cannot be demolished. As per the directions of the DC it is decided to create sites of 2.75 cents each on the available land to distribute to the beneficiaries,” said AC Madan Mohan. Dalit leader Janardhan Bolanthoor and Janardhan Chandthimar who strongly opposed it said that alternative land should be provided instead of encroached land. Gangadhar Parari asked the area of DC manna land in the council limits. Finally the AC asked the tahsildar to submit a report of the details of DC manna land, the encroached land and available land.
A local person said that the land reserved for scheduled caste crematorium at Sarapady is encroached upon by a local. The AC asked for the investigations.
A leader said that an Ambedkar Bhavan should be constructed in the land available at Navagrama. AC Madan Mohan assured that the land will be approved if identified at Arala grama. He directed the tahsildar to inspect the land on Tuesday and take suitable action.
District Dalit Seva Samithi founder president Sesappa Bedrakadu said that survey work relating to several projects is held up due to lack of surveyors. The AC directed ADLR to submit a proposal for an additional taluk surveyor. The AC also assured that he will speak to the deputy commissioner and take action in this connection.
Vishwanath Chandthimar spoke about the absence of transport officials and excise officials in the meeting. The transport officer Charan meanwhile attended the meeting soon afterwards. There were complaints to the transport officer that those without badges in Ambedkar Development Corporation do not get loans. The transport officer clarified that those who are above 20 years of age and holding a licence issued more than a year ago are provided badges even though they are not studied. Ambedkar development corporation officer clarified that there is no objection to providing loan to drivers without badges.
A person complained that an illiterate person belonging to SC community at Koila grama who was staying in the house constructed by him after obtaining title deed has been driven away and the title deed is issued to local private person. The AC asked to consider the matter seriously and take action. As Vishwanath Chandthimar joined his voice, Commissioner Madan Mohan directed to conduct investigations.
Taluk panchayat executive officer Rajanna was present. Social welfare department assistant director Jayashree welcomed and rendered a vote of thanks.
