Sullia: 23-year-old youth drowns in pond while fishing

Sullia, Nov 7: In a tragic incident, a youth met watery grave while fishing at Mogappe pond near Nettaru in Bellare here early morning on Saturday November 7.

The deceased has been identified as Avinash (23), son of Sundara, resident of Moole in Sampya.

Avinash along with his friends got down into the pond in order to catch fish at Sampyamoole Matathadka of Puttur taluk. However, he got washed away and despite a search, could not be located.

Locals and Puttur fire service personnel arrived at the spot and launched a search operation. They brought out Avinash from the pond, but by then he had breathed his last.

A case in this connection is registered in Bellare police station.
