Special Olympics in City Brings Forth Talents of Differently-Abled

Mangalore, Nov 8:
Under the aegis of Lions Club, Valencia, Special Olympics was organised at Mangala Stadium here on Monday November 8. The sports meet was meant to encourage the differently-abled children.

Mayor Rajani Dugganna hoisted the flag and flagged off the sports meet. She said that international recognition should be given for achievements of special children. She called upon the members of the public to work hard in bringing them to the mainstream. Dugganna praised the organizers of the sports meet for providing a platform for such children to showcase their capacity.
 
Lions district governor J K Rao presided over the function.
 
As many as 436 children from various schools of the city took part in the event.
 
Events such as marathon, semi-marathon, track, walking race, lemon and spoon race etc were held.

    It is such a rewarding thing for those kids but unfortunately only those living in major cities are able to avail such services. Wish if every nook and corner of the country had facilities to encourage and support the ability of kids who are considered as differently able.
