Sullia: Home minister promises new buildings to 100 police stations

Sullia, Nov 9: State home minister, Araga Jnanendra, stated that the state government has been giving impetus to strengthening the police department. Towards this end, new buildings will be built for 100 police stations at a cost of Rs 200 crore, he stated. He also mentioned that a sum of one crore rupees has been earmarked for Subrahmanya police station and works will begin soon. He was speaking to the media persons on Monday November 8 night during his visit to Subrahmanya.

He said that under the 'Police Gruha 2025' scheme launched by the union home minister, 10,000 quarters will be built for the police by 2025. "The department is recruiting 4,000 people every year and now only 12,000 posts have remained vacant," he explained.

The minister said that the police are taking action as per the new cow slaughter prohibition act. He asked the people to cooperate with the police. About the grenades found at Ilanthila, Uppinangady recently, he said that the investigation covering all the angles is progressing.

The minister visited Subrahmanya temple and offered special puja. Executive officer Dr Ningayya, assistant executive officer Pushpalata, managing committee president Mohanram Sullia etc were present. He also went to Samputa Narasimha Swamy Math at Subrahmanya and invoked the blessings of Sri Vidyaprasanna Theertha Swamiji. The Swamiji honoured the minister by draping a shawl around his shoulders.
