Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Nov 10: MLA Y Bharath Shetty, instructed the officials to conduct detailed verification before giving permission for creating layout or other construction work. He told them not to allow layout or other construction by using buffer zones or by encroaching government land.

He was speaking after taking part in the Mangaluru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) held at the MUDA office on Tuesday November 9.

"In the past, illegal buildings had come up by encroaching main drainage canals. They have been giving rise to artificial floods. The citizens used to face a lot of problems from them. But henceforth such things should not be allowed to happen," he asserted.

The officials were told about the MUDA meeting's decision to undertake drive at places wherever complaints of violations have been received from the citizens.

MLA D Vedavyasa Kamath, informed that MUDA has prepared to plan to develop many major ponds located within the city south assembly constituency and that development works are already in progress in respect of some of the ponds and that work is in progress. He also said that there are plans to create parks and develop the existing ones by MUDA and for this purpose, specific spots will be identified for the development of parks.

MLA Umanath Kotian, MUDA chairman Ravishankar Mijar, commissioner Bhaskar, officials and members participated.

What about restaurants functioning in door less constructions at Residential zone. MUDA please wake up and take action. In Mysuru the Corporation gives 7 days time for unauthorised buildings to be demolished by builder or land owner. Else they demolish it by passing tender to demolition contractors. Is Mysuru a smart city or Mangalore a smart city.

Under the guise of single layout approval, MUDA is working overtime for builders by making self built house a less attractive proposition than buying a flat and simultaneously broadening roads leading to major sites held by politicians or land pockets held by builders. In a way, this is a legal land encroachment happening for decades now.

What is the point in having this discussion now.....when every one is fully aware of who & who encroached the land. Is there any action taken against encroachers of land and only action is once in a while is taken against the roadside footpath vendors...by demolishing their push carts or tents.....what a sham of the entire public administration system ....all of a sudden they woke up from slumber.......!!!!!! Let MCC or MUDA clear all the roads and road side encroachments by the merchants, restaurant owners, builders and so on and show it to the public that they are serious in their actions.

God has given a gift called "Death" to everyone or else poor, middle class would not have been allowed to take birth on this earth.. People should not buy land, instead secure yourself & your family by investing in Life Insurance, Health insurance, Mutual funds & buy a small apartment, eat well, make friends, enjoy parties, roam around different places, live happily. Life is short, enjoy life to the fullest.

Dear MLA Sir. The apartment in which I stay a builder built a penthouse illegally without any permission and started staying in it. . The KEB gave electricity number without an occupation certificate. We approached MUDA, DC nothing happened case went to court and it is still hanging. i don't know your advice is to whom. It will only be advice as MUDA or anybody will listen to you or they will not take action. A few years later the government will make all Akrama to Sakrama. End of story. You will go for another election and repeat your words for the public entertainment

Mr. Praveen, Jossey will not take a stand against Shiva Sena and NCP leaders, because he has to live and earn there, otherwise their goons will pack his bags and send him back to Shirva in Udupi.
