De Niro to Get Golden Globes' DeMille Award


Los Angeles, Nov 10 (DPA) Robert De Niro is to be honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2011 Golden Globes ceremony for "outstanding contribution to the entertainment field".

The award will be the second Golden Globe for the 67-year-old Hollywood legend, who previously won the Golden Globe for best actor for "Raging Bull" in 1980.

Past recipients of the prestigious DeMille award include: Martin Scorsese, Judy Garland, Barbara Streisand, Harrison Ford, Warren Beatty, Anthony Hopkins, Robin Williams, Michael Douglas, Gene Hackman, Al Pacino, Clint Eastwood and Steven Spielberg.

Nominations for the 68th annual 2011 Golden Globes will be announced Dec 14. The awards ceremony will take place Jan 16 in Los Angeles.
