Puttur, Nov 14: Soumya (36) from Ichilampady in the taluk who was admitted into Wenlock Hospital Mangaluru after she consumed some poisonous substance four days back, breathed her last on Saturday November 13, without responding to treatments. A case has since been registered against her husband for abetment to suicide.
Soumya, wife of Venkatesh from Nidyadka in Ichilampady village had consumed a poisonous nut after fighting with her husband. She had fallen ill. Venkatesh thereafter had consumed rat poison, it is said. The locals had taken both of them to Kadaba community hospital and then to the government hospital in Puttur for advanced treatment ;As Soumya's condition worsened, she was shifted to Wenlock Hospital the next day.
A soon as he learnt that Soumya had breathed her last, her husband, who was being treated in the government hospital at Puttur escaped from there.The doctors who realised that he had fled, informed the town police station here. The Upplinangady police who came to know that Venkatesh had left to Mangaluru railway station, went there, took him into custody and admitted him into the hospital again.
