Dharwad: Wildlife activists oppose installation of Jesus Christ's statue in sanctuary

Daijiworld Media Network - Dharwad (SP)

Dharwad, Nov 16: A five feet high statue of Jesus Christ has been installed in the wildlife sanctuary at Mahadeshwra Hills, Kollegal in Chamarajanagar district. Wildlife activists and the locals are vehemently opposing this act.

The statue has come up in a forest land located in Hoogya near Jallipalya village. It is said that this statue was installed during the second lockdown in the state.

Wildlife activists have said that some locals have encroached upon the government and that they got they got the statue installed there in order to see that the encroached land is not forcibly vacated, and for religious friction to arise because of groups with conflicting opinions.

An activist explained that last year itself, there were attempts to create a small shrine. But the work was stalled after the Forest department officials intervened.

Meanwhile, Forest department officials clarified that the works were stopped earlier and said that action will be taken in case of any such encroachment.

We Christians had the privilege of being better educated - and consequently use our reasoning power the right way - thanks to various societal factors. But this act shows that we too are turning fundamentalists. I wonder if our brain too has started to move elsewhere from where it should actually be.

I m not against any religion, but this a modus operandi to encroach on govt land. Even if a temple or a mosque is built there, it is wrong.

Why Jesus's statue should be installed on the encroached land ?? So that thousands will speak ill about Jesus ?? For Controversial arguments ? Abuses ? Why jesus has no respect ? Why concerned people who have installed this statue, do not possess common sense that his statue should not be placed on the encroached land ? He was born in manger 2000 years ago ....Now also some people dont give respectable place to him out of greed.....

One statue of Jesus Christ is not going occupy the full hill so in order to pacify the Wildlife activists and the locals let there be a Statue of Hindu Gods/Goddess side by side. Muslim faith does not adore any any idols. Problem resolved !

If it's illegal land and not belongs to any Christian authority then should not build the statue. Keep our faith in our heart and inside the premises and keep peace and do good things for society.

One should exhibit Jesus in his way of life, In his speech and in his kind deeds and not on the forest or encroached land. All religious installations on encroached land must be demolished once for all irrespective of its believers strength.

These fundamentalists have run out of places to erect statues of their god as they cannot do it on the highway roadside which is reserved for vehicles and, perhaps, to those briefly stopping for relief..

Yes we all are attached to the statues of our Lord, that's fine at some stage. But we all go with our emotions & not with the truth. When we renovate our old church, all or some of the old statues are removed right ? We all must follow the way Jesus walked and do what he taught. Go out of the way to help others and do good to all people without looking in to cast & creed. Action with faith itself proclaims the Good news, Once I know the purpose of my life in this earth then I will not give much attention to the worldly things. Moreover, Tit for Tat does not suit us.
