Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Nov 12: Dr Anand Sali, MBBS, MS (65), collapsed near the newspaper stall outside Father Mullers Charitable Institutions (FMCI) campus in Kankanady in the city, while taking a tea break from his duty on Friday November 12.

Sali, who had earlier been in government service and had worked for K S Hegde Medical Academy, Deralakatte, joined FMCI on September 17, 2007, as the chief casualty medical officer. He had reported for duty today morning as usual, and during the tea break, collapsed all of a sudden. He was immediately rushed to the critical care unit of Father Muller College Hospital, where the doctors attended to him. He however, could not be saved.

Fr Denis D’Sa, Father Muller Medical College administrator, said in a release that Dr Sali was a dedicated and upright person, whose services were well-appreciated by one and all. He was a soft-spoken and able person, and had always managed the casualty department of the hospital ably. He was an able administrator and was serene in his appearance and behaviour, he added.

The administrator of FMMC, doctors and other employees, have grieved the untimely death of Dr Sali. They have also offered their deep condolences to the family members and well-wishers of Dr Sali, duly offering prayers for his soul to rest in peace.

DR ANNAND SALI AS I KNOW WITH MY LITTLE INTERACTION WITH HIM- HE WAS A DOCTOR OF THE PEOPLE.HE WAS SO HUMBLE AND APPROACHABLE THAT PATIENTS USED TO FEEL AT HOME WITH HIM. HE WAS AN ELDER BROTHER TO THE STAFF IN THE CASULATY. HE NEVER USED TO BOSS OVER. HE HAD NO PRIDE IN HIM. HE WAS VERY CO-OPERAETIVE WITH THE MANAGEMENT, STAFF, PATIENTS AND PUBLIC. WE LOST A GREAT DOCTOR WHO LIVED UPTO HIS VOCATION. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE. HEARTY CONDOLENCES HIS BELOVED WIFE AND FAMILY.

I knew him as dad of my childhood buddy Vivek. Dr. Sali (or Uncle as I called him) had a charming and kind-hearted personality. I cannot count the numerous ways we have been helped by Dr. Sali and his family. He was a keen dad, a dependable doctor and a friend for all seasons. May God rest his soul in peace and provide strength to his family to overcome the grief created by his departure.

    The circumstances are sad indeed.
Death does not respect persons. It is we who are left behind who are the poorer. May God Bless his soul and console the family in His own way. Thank You.

I have known Dr. Sali Anand for a long time. He was one of the most dedicated Medical Officers of Father Muller's Hospital. He received every patient at The Casualty Department with respect and sympathy and was always available with or without notice. He had a kind and friendly approach and extremely good bed-side manners. His untimely demise is a great loss to Father Muller's, his family and the general public. I take this opportunity to offer my sincerest condolences to The Management of Father Muller's as well as the bereaved family of Dr. Sali.

Adios to you my dear friend. You are not dead but you continue to live in the hearts hundreds of people including mine.
