About Amulya Varsham

Amulya Varsham, by meaning ‘Precious Years’ is a different concept of Home for the Elderly, which would give the experience of ‘one more own house’ with the attached facilities of Nursing Care, Nutritious and Quality food and comfort of community living. It is like a small town, where all elderly live in their own cottages, having separate kitchen where they can prepare their own food if they like common mess provision is also made. Husband and wife or brothers and sisters can share one cottage and hence the continuation of family life to the best extent possible is taken care.

Facilities are provided to the children and relatives to visit and to stay with the elderly. The senior citizens staying here are not brought under any pattern of rules and regulations and they can stay as if they stay in their own homes. Support facilities like transport and other arrangements are provided to visit family functions and for shopping.

Mavis Rodrigues, motivated by her father Antony D'Souza (80) felt the social need of providing a decent and respectful living for those senior citizens like retired officers and the parents of those who love their parents but cannot take them along due to various reasons.  In times, where it is risky for the elderly to stay alone or live alone at home along with house maids, this could be the preferred arrangement.

The project is located 5 kilometres away from Beltangady town, in a place called Badyar, just adjacent to church, convent and hospital. Spread over three acres of land with thick lush greenery around, it provides peaceful and noise free living. It is targeted to build 60 cottages with arrangements for around 150 senior citizens.

Directors of the trust, Antony D'Souza, Amulya Rodrigues, and the whole family members including Calvin Rodrigues, Akash Rodrigues, and architect of the project Lawrence Cutinha were present among others during brochure release programme.
