Panaji: Mapusa river to be developed into tourist spot

Panaji, Nov 30: “With proper cleaning and beautification, the Mapusa river can be developed into a tourist spot,” said Pramod Sawant, CM of state on Monday.

As a first step, Sawant said that the river mouth has to be desilted as even canoes are not able to pass through. The CM was in Mapusa for the foundation stone laying ceremony of a bridge across the river. The proposed bridge will reduce traffic at Tarikade. The estimate of the project is Rs 10 crore, which is expected to complete in the next four months.

Joshua D’Souza, MLA of Mapusa and Glenn Ticlo, Aldona MLA were also present.
