Kasargod: Train Driver’s Presence of Mind Averts Major Accident

Daijiworld Media Network – Kasargod (SP)

Kasargod, Nov 19: Dharmendra Kumar, station master of Payyannur railway station, was suspended on Thursday November 18, after he committed a mistake in wrongly giving a go-ahead for a train.

The Chennai Mail, which was to arrive at the second platform of the railway station, was made to pass through the third platform. But, a good train was already parked on this platform. Although the station master signalled the train driver to move ahead, sensing that his train will collide with the goods train, he stopped the Chennai Mail on the tracks. His presence of mind averted a major accident.

The trains at the station were stranded for over an hour after the incident.
