Kundapur, Dec 3: Local people held protests in front of Byndoor government hospital on Friday against the irregularities at the hospital.
Pro Hindu organizations leader Sridhar Bijoor said that a united community campaign for health facilities is being held across party lines and across religions. “The chief doctor in the hospital is not available to treat ordinary patients. He spends most of his time in private hospitals and clinics. A front line warrior, hospital staff has not obtained corona vaccine. Full-time gynecologists should be appointed in the hospital. Ambulance facilities should be rectified. Those who are responsible for irregularities in the hospital should be transferred soon. Violent protests will be held if the problems are not solved in the next ten days,” he warned.
A memorandum was handed over to Udupi district panchayat chief executive Navin Bhat, Byndoor tahsildar Shobhalakshmi and district in charge DHO Rama Rao.
Farmer’s leader Veerabhadra Ganiga, Yadthare gram panchayat former president Ganesh Poojary, social activist Navin Chandra Uppunda, Akshaya Shetty Theggarse, Subrahmanya Bijoor and CITU leader Venkatesh Koni spoke. Dalit Sangharsha Samithi Bheemagarjane Uppunda’s Rama and office bearers, Vedanath Shetty Heranjalu, Rajesh Byndoor, Prasad P Byndoor, Sharath Movadi, Umesh Bijoor and various party leaders were present.
People expressed anguish against the chief medical officer. They urged the hospital to provide a dialysis and scanning unit in the hospital round the clock. The protest rally proceeded via Byndoor market till the office of Byndoor taluk magistrate.
