Chikkamagaluru, Dec 5: Hundreds of devotees of St Joseph Cathedral came up with many allegations against the Catholic bishop of Chikkamagaluru and met the district police superintendent and submitted a complaint for order an enquiry.

The devotees alleged that the members of the Karnataka Catholic Rakshana Vedike, which is founded by Bishop T Anthony himself is defending all his wrong deeds. Meanwhile, they also alleged that the bishop has also launched a weekly TV named 'Hope' without any discussions with the devotees..

"We are ready to meet the chief minister and submit details about the bishop's misadministration. As per sources, we got information that the bishop is trying to fabricate a sexual harassment story on Fr Antony Pinto and planning to transfer him from the parish. If he transfers Fr Antony Pinto, then we will not allow any other priest into the parish or the bishop himself. The bishop is also following the method of divide and rule policy by dividing people on the basis of language. If proper action is not taken, we will organize a hunger strike,” the devotees stated.

The police accepted the complaint and assured of holding an investigation.

People too will not make such allegations without reason.Previously what priest or Bishop said was accepted in Silence.Time to discuss and clear it sooner is better.Long time back too something was there .about land and selling etc.

This looks like a staggering issue. Prior to submitting alleged wrongdoing to civic authorities, it should have been submitted to the Archbishop, then if no proper dispensation is forthcoming, contact the Papal Nuncio in Delhi who will issue investigative orders. These should be probed by a committee

These disgruntled devotees strengthen the hand of the CM on his plans to hold survey. Bet people like them are behind the inquiry. They are not prepared to listen and be heard through regular channels and, instead, want civil authorities to intervene.

Dear Vincent, We followed the following route before lodging a complaint. First we met bishop T. Anthony swamy and requested to resolve the issues - No response Next, we wrote official letters to Bishop with several reminders -No response Then wrote to Arch bishop, cardinal and Nuncio -No response. This is going on from 2019 . Not even single line reply we got from church authorities. Last option left was to approach Civil authorities.
