Bengaluru, Dec 6: Paying real homage to Dr B R Ambedkar lies in becoming an empowered citizen by attaining knowledge and skills, DrCNAshwatha Narayana, Minister for Higher Education, IT/BT and S&T, said on Monday.
Speaking in the ‘Mahaparinirwana Diwas’ conducted by BJP SC-ST Morcha, on the occasion of the 65th death anniversary of Ambedkar, he said the suppressed sections of the society should become empowered by gaining knowledge and skills.
There are no barriers, boundaries, or geographical limitations for those having skills and talent, the minister said and pointed out that education, skills and knowledge are the real assets that are controlling the world economy.
“Ambedkar is an ever-inspiring example for those seeking knowledge, He had studied for 21 years in foreign countries and 64 Master Degrees to his credit. He was a great economist, advocate, journalist, and a great constitutionalist,’’ Dr Narayana explained.
By recognizing the contribution of Ambedkar to the field of economics, the state government has established DrBRAmbedkar School of Economics (BASE) in Bengaluru and all measures will be taken to make it as an institution of international repute, the minister said.
“The National Education Policy (NEP-2020) brought out by visionary leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi aspires to create an equitable and empowered society. It enables the empowerment of marginalized sections, who primarily study in government educational institutions by providing quality education,” the Minister said.
The State Government has upgraded the quality of higher education facilitating digital education by bringing in the Learning Management System, creating smart classrooms, and distributing Tablet PCs free of cost.
In addition to this, as a party BJP has always stood with suppressed classes whether it is a matter of reservation, promotion, social inclusion, or any other, he pointed out.
