Mangaluru, Dec 7: Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore presided over solemn Eucharistic celebration on December 3, 2021 at 10:30 am. Fr Assisi Rebello, the parish priest and Shrine director, Fr Richard D Souza, the assistant parish priest Mudipu church, Parish Pastoral Council vice president Naveen D Souza and the secretary Dr Irene Veigas along shrine committee and PPC members extended a solemn welcome to Bishop to the shrine. Bishop in his homily explained the need of building the families of faith and how St Joseph Vaz became an inspiration for the people of his time to form the families with strong Catholic faith.
Bishop honoured the donors with candles and blessed them for their generosity. Fr Cyprian Pinto, vicar forane, St Joseph Vaz vicariate, Fr Roshan assistant parish priest Permannur church, along with Deacon Vivek Deepak Pinto celebrated the solemn Eucharist.
Fr Vijay Machado, the director of Mangala Jyothi, compered the liturgical celebration. Fr Assisi Rebello, the parish priest thanked the devotees. The second eucharistic celebration of the day was presided over by Fr Richard D Souza, assistant parish priest Mudipu in Kannada language. The last solemn eucharist presided over by Fr Archie Gonsalves from Rhyshivana Ranipura. All the devotees were served meals. Hundreds of devotees came to shrine offered prayers.
The solemn eucharist celebration of the third day of the annual feast of St Joseph Vaz Shrine Mudipu was presided over by Fr Benjamin D Souza, the parish priest of Immaculate Conception church Urwa and the former director of the Shrine. In His homily, we explained how to transform families as holy families after the model of the Holy family. He stressed the importance of prayer in the family which will make our families Holy. Fr Anil Joel Dsouza parish priest Fajir, Fr Shaun Rodrigues assistant parish priest Cordel, Fr Michael Dsouza parish priest Bola, Fr Antony Lasrado parish priest Nithyadhar, Fr John Dsouza Parish priest Eliyarpadav, Fr Assisi Rebello Shrine director concelebrated the eucharist.
The second mass of the third day was celebrated by Fr John Lobo OCD, Carmelite from Ryshivana in Kannada language. The last mass of the day was presided over by Fr Andrew D Souza, gave a call in his homily to form the families of strong faith. He said family life is the altar where the husband and wife are like celebrants of the Eucharist. Fr Roshan Crasta, administrator Fr Muller Homeopathic Hospital, Deralakatte, Fr Rohan Dias, assistant director Fr Muller Homeopathic Hospital, Deralakatte, Fr Alwyn Richard D Souza , assistant director of St Joseph Engineering College, Fr Assisi Rebello, the Shrine director concelebrated the Eucharist. Thousands of devotees took part in the Eucharistic celebrations, novena and festal meals.
