Kerala HC junks plea to remove PM's photo from Covid vaccine certificates

Kochi, Dec 21 (IANS): The Kerala High Court on Tuesday dismissed a plea challenging the picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Covid vaccine certificates and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh on the petitioner.

Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan said: "This is a frivolous petition filed with ulterior motives and I have a strong doubt that there is political agenda also to petitioner. According to me, this is a publicity oriented litigation. Therefore, this is a fit case that is to be dismissed with a heavy cost," said the judge.

The petitioner argued that a vaccination certificate was his private space and he has certain rights over it.

He argued that since he had paid for his vaccination, the state has no right to claim the credit by inserting a photograph of the Prime Minister in the certificate issued to him.

Incidentally, when this petition came up early this month, the judge asked the petitioner why he was ashamed of having Modi's photo on the vaccination certificates and had pointed out that he was wasting judicial time.

That is not right to say by judge petition is politicaly motivated. If same question if public say to judge, his judgements are biased, then it will be contempt of court?. All over the world no governments, kingdoms putting their rulers photo on vaccine certificate and they give completely foc. Some time it feel like some of the judges are from RSS

Irresponsible, shame and sham. Judge Kunhikrishnan said other countries may not be proud of their PM, but we are. He became the PM because of the mandate of the people. We may have different political opinions, but still, he is our PM.. Other PMs and Presidents are not democratically elected!!! Sorry, this is crap. There are democracies mature and healthy, and not communal and cultic. If a HC judge makes such cheap statement, what about us with no such privileged education? PM is not my owner. I am not in his country. He is a paid servant. We don't worship elected leaders. They are not ideals to be followed. Mahatma Gandhiji will live as a living icon of India for ever.
