Experts Speak on Building Teen-Parent Bond at Hidayah Counselling

Mangalore, Dec 10: The inaugural ceremony of Hidayah teen and parents' counselling was held at Jamiyyatul Falah Community Hall, Kankanady here on Friday December 10 at 4 pm. There was also a panel discussion on teenagers' problems and parents' responsibilities on the occasion.
Dr C P Habeeb-ur-Rahman, chairman, Unity Academy of Education, Mangalore inaugurated the programme. Speaking on the occasion, he opined that the Internet with its social networking sites has created a distance between the parents and their children.
Abdusalam Puthige, chief editor, Vartha Bharathi, in his presidential address stressed on the importance of tackling the problems involved in children’s psychological, moral and educational matters, especially in case of teenagers.
Shahnaz M, editor of Anupama periodical, Dr Audrey Pinto, HoD of counseling department, Roshni Nilaya, Dr Manjula KT, principal, Besant Women’s College, Prof Eisie Tharien, HoD of Psychology department, St Agnes College, Zaheeda Jaleel, principal, Al Ihsan Girls PU College and others spoke on the occasion.
The speakers focussed various issues like the need for bridging the generation gap between parents and children, spending quality time with teenagers, effects of television and movies, creation of a peaceful atmosphere at home, being frank and friendly with teenagers and so on.
Khasim Ahmed H K, chairman, Hidayah Foundation presented a paper on the occasion.
Umar U H welcomed the gathering. Abdul Razak Ananthady conducted the programme.
