Jan 12: Dakshina Kannada reports 519 corona cases, one death; Udupi adds 361 infections

Mangaluru/Udupi, Jan 12: Dakshina Kannada on Wednesday, January 12, reported 519 new coronavirus cases while Udupi registered 361 cases.

The total number of positive cases in the district has risen to 1,18,919 out of which 2,253 are currently active.

As many as 137 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,706.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,12,60,930 as fine in 93,096 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

A total of 361 new cases were reported on Wednesday. Udupi reported 281 cases, Kundapura 26 and Karkala 54.

362 patients are in home isolation, 11 in designated Covid hospitals and 24 in Covid care centres.

Total active Covid cases has risen to 1,625.

 A total of 78 patients were discharged from hospitals on Wednesday. Coronavirus has claimed 491 lives in the district so far.

So far 10,13,258 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 2,54,967 have received the second dose.

A total of 53 cases of mucormycosis (black fungus) have been reported in the district so far.
