Mumbai, Jan 13: Health minister Rajesh Tope said that there will not be any relaxations likely till mid February on the restrictions that are put due to increasing cases of Covid.

Tope said, “Priority is given to reduce the viral spread. There is increase in cases even in smaller cities. Experts say that infection spread can be reduced by the imposition of restrictions and increasing speed of vaccination. The cabinet meeting that was held on Wednesday was mainly on the restrictions that were imposed recently.

“We are watching the numbers daily and decisions will be taken accordingly. Schools and colleges will continue to remain closed as all cabinet members also opined on the same.

“The slowness of vaccination in the state was highlighted in the cabinet meeting. It is not right on the part of the public not to cooperate with the government with regards to vaccination. People should come forward and take voluntarily.

“we cannot make vaccination mandatory. However, strict steps have to be taken by the respective districts to ensure that more and more people are vaccinated. It is astonishing that 98 lac people in the state are yet to take the first dose of vaccination.”
