Bangalore, Dec 15: Turning the heat on JD(S) supremo and former prime minister H D Deve Gowda and his family members, Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s political secretary B J Puttaswamy has alleged that Gowda and his family had 'illegally amassed unimaginable wealth' during the H D Kumaraswamy regime in 2006-07 and demanded a probe by the Karnataka Lokayukta into the charges.
Addressing a news conference in Bangalore on Wednesday, the Congressman turned staunch Yeddyurappa loyalist alleged that during the Kumaraswamy-led JD(S)-BJP coalition regime Kumaraswamy, his brothers H D Revanna, H D Ramesh, H D Balakrishna Gowda, and their relatives transacted Rs. 101.18 crore and urged the Lokayukta to conduct a comprehensive probe into the disproportionate sources of income of the entire Gowda family.
The Deve Gowda family transacted business worth several crores to turn black money into white money during the JD(S)-BJP regime in 2006-07, he claimed.
Puttaswamy said the former chief minister and state JD(S) chief Kumaraswamy "not only misused the office of the Chief Minister but also favoured his family members when he headed the coalition government."
"The B S K Trading Company run by H D Ramesh and H Kavitha, wife of Balakrisha Gowda transacted business of Rs. 36.17 crore during March-August 2006 by exporting granite stones," he alleged.
Ms Kavitha transacted a business worth Rs. 29.84 crore during January 2005 and July 2006.
"How can the wife of a government servant transact business involving so much of money?," Puttaswamy asked pointing out that Balakrishna Gowda had taken VRS from the government service.
"Deve Gowda’s daughters Anasuya Manjunath and Shailaja Chandrashekar, started the Rajarajeshwari International Polymers Private Limited and transacted business worth Rs. 26.49 crore during January-June, 2006," Puttaswamy alleged.
The BJP leader disclosed that he would handover all documents to the Lokayukta and would request him to conduct the detailed probe into the illegal amassing of wealth by the Deve Gowda family.
"The people of the state should know all misdeeds of the Deve Gowda family," he said and made it clear that he would continue to dig into the all the scams of the family. "Let them not fool the people as being the only honest persons," he said.
