Kasargod, Jan 22: Guruva (55), residing at Vantichal near Badiadka who had come alive while waiting for his funeral died later in a private hospital in the town.

Guruva was a coolie. On Monday morning, he felt unwell. He was taken to a hospital in Mangaluru. After two days, the hospital doctors advised to get him discharged as there was no hope of his survival. As per the advice, his oxygen supply was removed and he was taken to his native place in an ambulance. His funeral arrangements were made in his village where firewood and various other items were collected for the pyre. Relatives had also gathered for the funeral.

When the ambulance carrying Guruva reached Uppal, he opened his eyes. He was then subjected to check at a Badiadka clinic and the doctor confirmed that he was alive. He was then taken to Kasargod general hospital and thereafter to a private hospital. He had recovered to some extent in the hospital. But on the evening of Thursday January 20 he breathed his last.
